Describe the persona
Give the persona a name and a role, and say who they are: how old, where they’re from, how they come across. Describe them in your own words if you like; Humatone turns that into a profile.
Humatone designs a face and a voice from the profile and pins them. The same profile always gives the same persona.

Connect a brain
Your own system, if you have one: Humatone sends it what the caller said and speaks what it answers. Or the hosted brain, grounded in the knowledge and instructions you give it.
Either way, who a caller is stays your call. A name or a phone number lets a persona recognise someone; only your system can mark them verified.

Choose the channels
Buy a number for calls and texts, add a call to your web page with a few lines of code, or send a share link. Turn each channel on or off per persona.
Set office hours, hold music, the recording notice and how long transcripts are kept.

Go live, and keep watch
Test in test mode first, with fictional numbers and nothing charged. When you go live, every conversation is in the console as it happens.
Listen in, take over, or hand a caller to a person. Afterwards, read the record: what was said, what was done, and what the persona couldn’t answer.

Questions

What people ask first.

Do I need my own AI?: No. If you have one, Humatone speaks for it. If you don’t, the hosted brain answers from the knowledge you give it.
Will it sound like a robot?: It shouldn’t. Humatone listens for when a caller has finished, answers quickly, stops when it’s interrupted, and speaks in a voice designed for the persona.
Does the persona pretend to be human?: No. It speaks as a person at work, but it never denies being an AI when someone sincerely asks.
Can a persona act on its own?: No. Anything that needs doing, such as moving a booking, is done by your system. Humatone gives the persona a voice, not authority.
Which countries can I get numbers in?: The UK first, with more countries as early access grows. Tell us where you need numbers.
What happens to recordings?: A call is only recorded when the caller is told. Recordings and transcripts are kept for the period you set, then deleted.
